New Ford in the Family

Post by 1968-f250 »

Finally got the 1979 Bronco that I've had my eyes on. It has a 400 in it with automatic transmission and it runs beautifully. Feels good to have a 4x4 other than that stupid chevy :P . It has the usual rust, but isn't that bad. Radiator support is good, fenders are good, and both doors can easily be fixed. The floor pans are almost spotless and the rest of the interior is pretty nice. It also has a bench seat up front. Can any one tell me if this is rare? I'll post more pictures tomorrow.

Now I'll have to start a project thread at the .net website. I'll probably be driving this until my 68 f250 is done.

They generally came with buckets, but I do believe the bench was a option.

Personally, I've never seen a Bronco that had a bench, but as was mentioned it may have been an option.

I wish I still had my 78/79 bronco not sure which it was built 5/78 title said 79 though. It was done though, it was rolled twice body was literally broken in half, and slightly bent after hitting a tree while doing donuts. But, it finally died when its lower radiator hose exploded going over hwy 88 to reno overheating and cooking it's 400 and c6. It was probably the most indestructible vehicle I ever owned. I got to get me another pay more than $200 and take care of it.
Good Luck!

mine had a factory bench seat in it just for the record. Bronco's are slightly rarer than the pickups but I would not say rare, but they are well loved in the off road community and silghtly uncommon, but easy to get parts for and what not because of places like Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.

Yeah, I assumed that most broncos came with buckets up front so I was surprised that is had a bench seat. I'll post some more pictures of it tomorrow. I gave it a good wash today since it sat for 5 years and was starting to grow moss. When I bought the box for my 68' the guy threw in a factory brush guard off of his truck so I got that mounted also and it sure looks good. I was cleaning out the interior today, which is almost spotless, and I hit the jackpot. Sitting behind the front seat was 5 .22 lr shells! I'll get em any way I can! :D I love shooting .22 so not being able to find shells is very depressing. So the truck is already paying for itself. It should be a fun project to tinker with. If I wasn't working on my truck it could probably be finished by the end of summer.

You did hit the jackpot! .22 is rather hard to catch in stock every where is always sold out.

I think buckets (70 Mach 1 with TMI Sport R foam & upholstery) and an 80s Bronco console are the way to go...

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw those shells sitting there! I bought a .22 pellet gun just a few weeks ago so I could keep on plinking now and then since pellets are way more affordable.

That sure looks like a nice setup, I might consider doing that in the future. I also love the look of your truck. What size tires are you running on there?
