Adding PS. Pulley question

I am adding PS to my '71 F100 with 302. It does NOT have AC. I was given a 3 groove crank pulley but it actually touches the water pump pulley (inside one of the grooves). Seems like it should have a shim or something behind it to move it forward. Will a 3 groove work? Or do I need to find a 2 groove?
