F250 kong bed conversion

Ok i got this f250 for cheap abd want to shorten the frame. Im going to be removing the leafs and doing a 4 link set up. Ive read that some people that did this mode ran into the issue of the chassis being different widths when they went to weld back together. So in trying to avoid that i shifted my cut more towards the rear where the frame is the same. The leafs will be coming of at some point just want to see anyones input. Should i remove leafs now to allow me a more offset on the cut?
