Crown Vic (CV) IFS Swap - Rack and Pinion Option
I have seen that a lot of the swaps are having to deal with the EVO solenoid which is a part of the variable speed power steering assist :bs:. This came on the IFS I got and since I am replacing the rack and pinion with a reman unit I was happy to find that they offer one with out the EVO. The A-1 Cardone part number is 22249 and I got it on Rock Auto for $122 with a $150 core. I emailed them before purchasing to get an idea of what the return shipping would cost and through them it should be around $23 so that make my total investment $145 which is about $100 less than the local parts store.

Re: Crown Vic (CV) IFS Swap - Rack and Pinion Option
So this was a bust in that if the come with out an EVO that just means you take the one off of your rack and put it on the reman unit. I called several of the reman builders and none of them at this time have a source for new EVO's as they just reuse the ones they get. So I will be using DC motor controller to adjust the EVO solenoid valve to an optimum opening amount. It would be nice if someone made a mechanical orifice to put in place of the EVO solenoid but I have not found one to date. This is the controller I will use as several others have used it and report it is working really well.

No need to wait on me. Others have done it with great success and have been running it for some time. I’ll see if I can dig up the thread off another site where I learned about it and I’ll post the link.
Didn’t take me that long to find it:
