Take the time to crawl under the truck and look under the hood while someone wiggles the shifter to see how much looseness you have in the linkage. Most likely the plastic bushings need replaced. I was able to find replacements in local auto parts stores but I've not sure how much the Swiss shops will stock. You can also turn new bushes out of nylon on a lathe simply enough.

sorry I can not send movies from my mobile to this page. Then it would be easier to see how it is.

You think more that the plastic bushes are needed to replace?

Yes. The detents are set by the transmission pawl so any looseness is in the linkage.

The shifter lever is floppy. I’ve never been able to find the nylon bushings for the shifting rods.

While doing my diesel conversion I picked up an assortment at Autozone in the Dormann racks. I think I needed to modify one of them but I was also doing a 47rh install.

You can pop them apart with pry bars or pliers. They are very difficult to do. Per movies, upload them on youtube and post a link in this thread.

Do you have a picture of what I need to change so it will work out. I have a little hard to understand what part I need to change. What can I buy and what is needed to fix the problem

After warching your video I think you may have multiple issues. There are 3 places that can make for a sloppy shifter.

The shift indicator detent plate. Located on the back of your column tube flange. Part # 7A216 in the top left corner of this diagram. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... column.jpg. Here's a picture of mine. It was loose when I rebuilt my column. http://www.fordification.com/forum/down ... &mode=view and here's a vendor link. https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/fordpar ... DZ-7A216-A. This plate is what locks the pointer and handle in the gear slot.

The next place is the shift lever bushings on the bottom of your column. Part #'s 7341 and 7343 in the above diagram. Here's a vendor link. http://dennis-carpenter.com/m/product.a ... 5TZ-7343-A

The 3rd place is at your tamnsmission linkage. It's where the linkage attaches to the the tansmission like Ranchero50 mentioned. This is not the exact one but it'll give you an idea of it's location. Yours may not be like that. Can you post a picture of that area on your transmission?

hello sargentrs. As usual, you always have good answers. I will try to take a photo during the pickup tomorrow. I have a C6 automatic box that does not have a kickdown tube. I do not know what would be easier to replace and what I hope is the fault.
