Hello,
Was hoping someone could help ID this power steering gear box that was installed on my 1972 F250 Camper Special. Previous owner did a manual to powered steering conversion and I am unsure what year/model he used for donor parts. From what I've researched, it seems to have come off a 1978/79 Ford Bronco or F-150.
Lots of cast IDs, haven't been able to pull up too much useful information. Not sure whether it would be standard rotation or reverse rotation either. Any help or insight would be appreciated. Likely either 82-0100 or 82-00101

That's a ford/Saginaw box. It's definitely been "converted". Is that truck a 4x4?

Sure is a 4x4. Why do you ask? Is the steering box mounted made for a two wheel drive truck? Any idea what year of a ford/saginaw it is or what the part number might be? Looks damn near close to this to meBusboy wrote:That's a ford/Saginaw box. It's definitely been "converted". Is that truck a 4x4?

Well, did some more research and I think I figured it out. Previous owner used a 78/79 F150/Bronco 4WD steering gear box and sourced spool valve, piston and worm assembly from an 80+ Ford model that has opposite rotation to the 78/79 model. This article documents what he did fairly clearly, more or less but slightly different application. In my current setup, steering box front mounted on outside of frame, drag link connected to pitarm rearwards of steerbox. Unlike standard 78/79 setup which the draglink would be connected to pitarm closer to front of vehicle than the steering box. Sound right?Busboy wrote:That's a ford/Saginaw box. I was wondering how you liked this setup, I am thinking of doing the same conversion on my 1968 4x4
