door lock cylinder

I had one missing when I bought the truck. Bought a pair and after dissasembly I have the wrong ones. It appears the passenger side one has a round rod about 1" long that mates up with the linkage. The ones I bought have a flat rod with a hole in it. Im assuming these are for the later 73-79 models. Ive searched the web, can't find the round ones. Anybody have a source, a link, or a used one they would want to sell?

mind me asking how difficult is it to get these out. I have to take them out to get rekeyed as I dont have any keys. just for ignition.

Getting the lock cylinder out isn't too bad. The pain is getting the door panel off. You need to use a panel tool to get the clips loose. It can be done w/o one but you risk damaging the panel where the clips attatch. They tend to tear out when they get older. The door lock cylinder is only held on by a clip that will slip right off once the door panel is off and out of the way.

temping but once I get that to Canada that be 75buks or so. my locksmith will rekey for 30 bucks

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does any place offer the cylinders with pins that can be matched to your existing key?

Also are new lock cylinders for the side tool box on camper special models? Did they originally use the same key as the door or ignition?
