Thoughts on this car.
Been on the hunt for some new wheels since I sold my '05 Lincoln LS to my son. This is high on the list, a '07 and up Jaguar XKR two door sports coupe or an XJR four door business coupe. Both have the Ford designed Eaton supercharged 4.2l Jag V8 pushing 420hp. The XKR is like a '71 Datsun 240z on steroids.

Re: Thoughts on this car.
They're $30k more and this is 1/4 the price of a new stang with new car insurance.
I've only seen one F type in the wild and I think the '07 - '10 XK's look better. Per '07 XK's look too swoopy and coupes look much better than the drop tops. I saw a newer XK coupe at a Staples here in town a couple years ago and fell in love with the shape. The F type looks a lot like other similar style cars from the front end. Had to really get close to see the cat badges.

A friend had a few Jags over the years , great road cars and stylish.
But pricey to repair ,
and every used car is for sale for a reason .

If its what floats your boat , i'd say go for it. At the end of the day the one driving the car is you so get what you like. I honestly don't have enough experience with exotics to know if its a good deal or not for the money. but looks sharp.

Re: Thoughts on this car.
I’d start subtracting for exhaust and wheels....
I have no idea if it is worth his asking, but I would not be a player at 5 grand...

Re: Thoughts on this car.
Exhaust was a gimme, did the LS for @ $500 but it had cats. There's a salvage yard up in Bedford PA that has a couple of these so I need to call them and check prices. The stock mufflers have cutout valves that open up a WOT and let the engine breath.
Wheels are not my style either. The stock ones look a lot better IMHO and hopefully the guy has them.
Price is pretty low, parts aren't extremely expensive, decent oil filter is $22 for the Lincoln's Jaguar 3.9l V8. The 4.2's are common in Jags from 2000-2009, blower engines are in S types, XJ's and XK's.
Representative of an XJ, about 1/2 the cost of an XK. XJ is in the running because my 13yo doesn't fit in the back of the LS. There's a '03 XJ about a mile away that I should go sit in. XK's are much further away.
https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva ... 00070.html
An R trimmed S type, same chassis as the Lincoln LS which handles amazingly well with an active rear stearing suspension.
https://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/5988608441.html
Another option is to put my '93 Mustang back on the road. It needs a good bit of work and won't be as nice as what I can buy currently. My choice now will be a stop gap until the new gen Mustangs are affordable in ten years.

The XKR is sitting out front. I'll post some pics in the morning. Exterior is rougher than I'd like, interior is mint. Engine will snap your neck back instantly. Almost scary quick.

Congrats....! Jag and Aston Martin appear to share some DNA. Didn't Ford own both brands at one time?Ranchero50 wrote:The XKR is sitting out front. I'll post some pics in the morning. Exterior is rougher than I'd like, interior is mint. Engine will snap your neck back instantly. Almost scary quick.
I can relate with scary quick with my Ferrari. It keeps me humble.

Re: Thoughts on this car.
Yep, same fella designed both. I want to say DB7, DB9 and a Vanquish. I just watched it on Youtube a while back.
Some pics from this morning. Trip to Jersey and back was a mother after not sleeping well the past two nights. Got a solid 9 hours last night to make up for some of it and managed a couple minutes on the road last night between the rumble strips.

Re: Thoughts on this car.
You get any spare parts with it (like wheels and mufflers)...

Re: Thoughts on this car.
Just the original wheels that are pretty curbed up. I'm going the repair them and run them vs. the OZ wheels that are also curbed up but stick out go cart style. Spent most of the day learning about it and troubleshooting stuff. Found out it absolutely hates a weak battery and goes are crap. Fix is a solar charger on the rear deck or plug it in each night.
