Gosh I love this truck! 48 years and still on the job

Rita at work.jpg
Rita is a '69 F-250 built to order in the fall of 1968. Her original 360 was stroked with a 428 crank and a torquemaster camshaft when rebuilt, yielding a 416 with lots of low end torque. She was factory equipped with a Dana 60 3.54 ratio TorqLok, power brakes, AC, hand throttle, and 3 fuel tanks, but has manual steering (go figure). Her most interesting feature is her T85-OD transmission with a splitter switch on the column shifter. The original owner told me that he had a '66 F100 352, 3spd-OD, and that the dealer swapped his OD tranny into Rita for him before he took delivery of Rita, and the '66 F100 got Rita's original straight 3 spd tranny. So new from the dealer with a 3spd-OD. Pretty neat stuff! Also, she's got a heavy duty DMI QuikCush'n back bumper that absorbs all the load shocks and helps make hookup to trailers super easy. Her bed is set up with a platform that folds out of the way when necessary, so that she has 2-tier load capability that makes her really handy for many different kinds of loads and uses. She gets 14-16 mpg with the overdrive tranny on 100% gas, about 12-13 mpg on 90/10 ethanol gas.

We bought Rita in Albuquerque from her elderly original owner in 2013 and pulled her home behind Whitey, a '69 F250 Camper Special we bought the same day from his original owner. It was a very good day!

Rita is pictured here about to pull away with 1 cubic yard of concrete for a project we've got going. It's her 12th load of concrete she's pulled for me and we have several more to go. She's a hard working and good looking girl!
