1972 F250 Factory AC

Post by TotalSound »

I am trying to find out if this truck actually has factory AC installed. I'm having trouble finding information or pictures of this particular system. Mine has an air duct that runs the length of the dash and is mounted underneath. It has the remnants of Ford emblems on it. In the center of the duct is a switch that controls the fan. I have never seen another duct like this in fact I have never seen a '70 era truck with factory AC or any AC for that matter. There are pictures of the in-dash controls for AC on this site and the controls incorporate both the heater and the AC. The AC works but having the duct underneath the dash means I can't mount anything there. I am considering trying to replace it with separate vents.

Do any of you have pictures or information on AC with this under dash air duct? It would be great to see pictures of this duct when it was new. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

:yt: other designs of dealer installed units can be seen here. Yours kind of looks like the one in Fig. 18. http://www.fordification.com/tech/factory-AC.htm
