F100 body on a 70s bronce frame?

Post by Dave from MN »

Does any one know the differences between a bronco frame and 67-72 4x4 shortbox frame or 73-79? I am looking for a short wheel base frame for my 67 4x4 shortbox resto, and have found a 78 bronco frame, and also a pre '78 frame, I'm assuming the pre '78 is a no go. Also if any one knows of a frame running gear in central mn Id appreciate a reference.

Welcome to the site.

The '78-'79 Bronco chassis is a good choice if you want a short , short box.
The front part of the frame is like an F150 , but a foot shorter, you'll have to fab mounts for the back of the cab.
The advantages are power steering and disc brakes plus a 2 speed transfer case which your '67 wouldn't have.

The '66-'77 Broncos are more than a foot shorter and at least 5" narrower than the "big" Broncos .

I would like to see that when its done. We discussed putting a 68 F100 one a 78 Bronco frame we had a few years ago but it never went any further than that.

I have helped with 2 different Chevy trucks onto Blazer frames. The first one we shortened the bed to match the wheel base and the second one we made a flatbed. Both were very cool rides when they were done.

I still think the Ford would look so much better than the Chev's we did.
