Factory racing stripes on highboy?
Anyone know if ford had any factory racing stripes (the ones on the hood) for 1967 - 1972? Either f100 or highboy? I can't find anything on the net, so I assume not, but I swear I've seen a catalog cover somewhere with one on it.

Tom,
When the Bumpsides were built, trucks were for working not racing. I would be stunned if there was ever a factory racing stripe package on any 67-72 pickup. (but, I have been wrong before.) There are a few stripe packages on the Dentsides, like the 1979 Indy Pace Car package...but even they did not have racing style hood stripes like I think you are talking about.
Most likely, the pickup on the catalog cover was just a nicely done restomod done by someone who also likes racing stripes.
Personally, I am going to go with the BOSS 429 style stripes like the 1970 boss Mustang's had...there is a hood component, but most of it is on the sides of the rig. Hopefully I will get this done before the energy death of the universe, but I am beginning to doubt it!

When in doubt, hit the gas. It may not be the right answer, but at least it ends the suspense!!

Re: Factory racing stripes on highboy?
I've done a modified version of the Explorer ? stripe from the mid 70s.
Kind of a wide V across the hood and a 4-5 inch multi stripe down the sides.
I went wider than the factory did on the hood.
