Post by Godspeed128 »

Ok looks like most grills are aluminum and the bumpers or chrome is the way it comes off The assembly line? And were any bumpers originally painted?

X2.

Bumpers always steel but some painted white, some chromed. Brite grills were aluminum, and painted white grills steel (as far as I know)

All my 61 Unicabs and my 67 Ranger had one or the other.

The painted grills were steel. The bright grills were anodized aluminum. My 69 F250 custom cab came with the bright aluminum grill chrome bumber. My 69 F100 standard cab came with the bright aluminum grill and painted white bumbers

I do have a 69 Steel Grille that is Chrome that was on my 68. Of course its not original since its a 69 style on a 68 but I'm not sure if someone would go through the work to chrome a steel grille and head light bezel when they could have got an aluminum one back in the day. I say that because It was like that when I bought it and had been on there for a long time as evident of the dull finish and pitting with spots of rust. I have since sourced and aluminum grille assembly for my 68 so that 69 grille is hanging on the wall for decoration.

I've got a spare '67 aluminum grille that some brain scientist painted multiple times. Started to remove the paint, finally found one that hadn't been painted, and the 'spare' is now hanging on the wall in the barn.
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

or, money.
