Lower bearings steering column

I restored two steering columns for my projects and found these bearings on Ebay. They are a perfect fit for our columns and seem so much better. does anybody see a problem with using them. bottom Pic. I drilled out the tac welds and going to tac weld these in. I plan on doing more of these culumns so I need a junk steering wheel I can use to pretension the bearing I think that's what you call it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/All-Metal-Lower ... 9C&vxp=mtr

Form, fit and function! Don't see any problem at all if it fits and performs the same purpose. How is it seated and what are the screws for? As long as it stays put, it's fine. You can always slide the clamp back up against it for good measure. I like how it seals off the end of the column housing.

It is two parts the bearing itself witch is quit a bit smaller than the opening at the bottom of the column, a bearing carrier that is a perfect fit for the bottom of the column. The screws hold the bearing in the carrier. What is nice is that you can tac weld the carrier in without hurting the bearing. This looks and feels so much better than the factory open style with this sealed bearing. The screws only go into the carrier pretty thick so I don't believe they will back out. Also been reading a lot of posts including mine about the gap between the blinker caller and steering wheel where it is suggested to just loosen the column and pull it up and retighten. not a good fix as this leaves the factory bearing open to the elements the collar on the lower shaft should be loosened a brought up to. OK rambled on enough.

Earlier in this thread I said the bearing carrier was cast steel. I just received another and its not. Looks like steel tubing with a top welded on with a hole for the bearing here's a pic of the underside of the bearing. looks very strong and well put together. The screws are angled which holds the bearing from moving either direction.
