No title.

Post by Busboy »

Does anyone know how to go about getting a title to a truck that has no known previous owner? It was in a field and I paid 300.00 for it. I live in Idaho.

Over here in WA, you can have the truck inspected by the state patrol with your bill of sale, get it registered, and in three years they'll issue you a title. Not sure about ID though--call your DMV and find out..
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

In California we would do a lien sale and then claim the title effectively for storage. Of course, if the original owner steps in you could have a problem. I have done this in the past and it worked for me. Hopefully someone from Idaho will chime in here and say how it works up there.

Every state is different so you really need to check Idaho laws regarding title, ownership, and VINs.

Here's their page for starters: http://itd.idaho.gov/dmv/vehicleservices/titles1.htm
