Something much less expensive. We are now the proud parents of a 1997 Ford Taurus!
This little bundle of joy cost us the exorbitant, overpriced sum of................. $10. Yes, that's ten. Dollar sign one zero. It belonged to a friend of my wife's, who has had it for 14 years and wanted something higher off the ground that wouldn't hurt her knees to get into. This car does sit rather low to the ground. She said she could probably get $500 for it, but would rather sell it cheap to someone who would use it and take care of it. This will be for my wife to drive.
It does have some issues: the fuel gauge doesn't work, most likely the sending unit. I'll check that out. She said that 3 times in the last 8 months, during warmer weather, it will occasionally not want to start. But if it sits awhile it'll start right up. Wondering if these two are related to the fuel pump/sending unit module.
The transmission will occasionally surge a few feet.
The upper intake manifold needs a new gasket.
The key doesn't work in the trunk, but the electric release functions fine.
The heater/AC switch functions only in defrost mode. Should be less than $50 to fix that.
It's really in pretty good shape for an 18 year old car.
