I guess that is where those pieces of junk shifter collars are coming from that does not fit the shift tubes.. The way I do the turn signal wires is new and used is 100% quiet no noise and feed each wire at a time and you can hear each wire sliding down the column and coming out at bottom.. OR leave the turn signal plate off feed the wires into that plate, have plastic ties holding down the shift collar in place feed wires into column then leave those 2 little bolts almost ready to come off, slide the plate down and enough room to see the bolts engage to those slots, make few turns on the nut remove plastic ties and tightened down with 7/16 socket, that is a way if doing it 1 time since But since I have done many times I can hold shift collar in 1 hand then slid that plate down and get it all at 1 time
