Steel wheels and caps

Post by BigAl47 »

What years will fit my 1972 f250? Oem ford. I’ve seen some with a lip on the center hole and some that are flat with what looks like angles around it. Just confused

Steel wheels

Would 16x6 steel wheels with 245x75x16 be ok or would 16x7 be better. Going for a stock look

Check out wheel vintiques, I think they have an OEM wish line now. Also, I think RobRoy had a post on this, search his post.

For a stock look I think you'll want a 5" tread width on a 6" wheel with a very tall profile. Yes, they looked a bit goofy when new.

Check out some tire size calculator and use a tape measure or cardboard cutout to get an idea what you are getting. Also be aware that sizing changes between makers so one good looking tire might be a little scrawny from another guy.

I just put new tires on my 16" rims (from a later model ford truck). I chose 235/85 R16 for the stock look. The only reasonably priced decent road tires I could find nearby were Falken Wildpeak HT tires. I'm happy with the look and the ride. If I remember, I'll post a pic later.

Yep, tire filling the wheel well makes it look ready for work.
