Clay Bar

Tried the clay bar method and was a bit skeptic but the results are way better than I expected.

Has anybody else used it?

Did a fine job! That looks really nice.
I’ve used before on various vehicles. I can’t say that I’ve noticed a huge difference in how it looks from my standard wash and wax. I guess a lot depends on how bad your paint was looking from the start. However, I do notice a huge difference in how it feels. When I run my hand over the freshly waxed body and I can feel that slight roughness or micro-grit then I know it’s time for the clay bar. That clay does such a great job cleaning all surface impurities and oxidation or whatever off the paint. I don’t know, maybe some of that is old wax buildup that doesn’t come off when washing with Dawn or a wax-removing soap. Either way, it just makes it feel like a whole new paint job to me.

She looks great and I bet she feels as good as she looks! After claying paint, you should notice a difference, especially if it has never been done. Claying paint removes all the grime and dirt that embeds itself into the clear coat. Once the clear coat is really cleaned from all of that debris, then you can do a nice polish to get rid of all the little scratches and swirls in the clear. And on black you're going to notice all the imperfections in the paint even more. It takes some time and patience but it is so worth it!

Looks really great. I use quick detailer as lube when using a clay bar to make the job easier.

Yes, clay bar works excellent! As the instructions say, toss it if it hits the floor! It also works amazing at taking hard water spots off of paint and glass! My wife had horrible water spots on her Mustang exterior mirror glass. Two minutes worth of clay bar and they were history.
My wife bought me two of the polish mittens that take the place of clay bar, but I haven't tried them yet.
