Just A Thought
When I first got my bump (240/C4) back in the 90's and started checking it out i noticed something different than I had seen on any of the other vehicles I had owned. Rather than the transmission lines running to the radiator, the heater hoses had a T in them and routed coolant to a small cooler mounted on the rear of the transmission. The cooler and lines looked like a factory setup. I'm sure the small engine and C4 weren't expected to do alot of major hauling so there wasn't a need for a heavy duty trans cooler. Is this an uncommon setup, or did all the ones with my engine/transmission combo come this way. Just wondering.

I've never seen that configuration-and never seen it drawn in the factory literature either?"Twisted_Steel"When I first got my bump (240/C4) back in the 90's and started checking it out i noticed something different than I had seen on any of the other vehicles I had owned. I wish I had taken pictures of it. It was simple and seemed to work just fine. Like I said in the original post, the heater hoses had a Tee in them and routed water to the little heat exchanger/cooler and the transmission lines were only about a foot or so long. It was definitely not heavy duty. I ran it that way for a couple of years before switching out the 302/C4 with the 429/C6
I'll look in the old barn and see if it's still there and if it is, I'll take pics.
