Informal poll-Stick or Auto?

I like the driving experience of a manual transmission, actually working the machine. Plus, it's just fun rowing through the gears. If I'm gonna experience traffic or a long haul I'll take my auto Dakota.

Interesting timing for this. I just purchased a new C6 for the 1970 I'm building for my daughter and will be pitching the 3 on the tree. She actually wants to learn how to drive a standard because she thinks my 66 Cyclone is so cool. I love rowing that Toploader too, but I'll never have another standard as a DD. In a toy, it's great.
There are too many distractions for young people today and she'll be maneuvering a tight parking lot at school with it. On top of that, I may use it to tow my Cyclone to events as well. C6 is much preferred for that, imo.

For a non-daily driver, the stick is fun.

Manual for me. I prefer to drive my vehicles rather than have them drive me. But agreed, in heavy stop and go traffic, an auto is a blessing.

In my 69 SB I like my auto. In my 2014 Mustang GT I like my 6 speed manual.

Auto in something as big as the F350 - I'd be shifting all the time in this whale.

That, and I've always shifted hard and tend to break stuff with manuals

Sometimes I wish I had an auto when I'm drinking a cup of coffee. Maybe a c6 swap or a cup holder swap hmmm

Depends on usage. My preferences...

Tow rig... auto
Any 4 cylinder.. stick
6 cylinder.... stick or auto. Depends on HP/TQ
Truck as a toy... stick.
V8 muscle car... stick.

Four speed for me. I won't buy a bump with an auto in it. Lots of reasons but mainly the first gear in the truck. I can shift into first gear and the truck will climb my two mile ascending driveway with just me steering. I do a good amount of trail riding and backcountry scouting for big game. Same idea, first gear and easy off the clutch and she will crawl all day.

Automatic for cruising and commuting, otherwise standard.... driving in snow and ice, standard is definitely preferred.

I like an automatic for cruising and and showing off.

I also like a stick cause my Mrs refuses to learn how to drive one and therefore cant borrow my vehicle to abuse and return with no gas, new scratches and smelling like girly stuff. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the girly smells. Just not in my MANLY truck.

Lets not even talk about the change that somehow gets thrown in the metal ashtray and rattles around.

I miss the 69 f250 I drove in high school with 4 speed manual. My current 70 f250 has 390/c6. I definitely prefer the manual.
