Cadillac tail lights in a dentside

Post by sargentrs »

Googling yesterday and stumbled across a '74 with Cadillac tail lights. Not sure if I like it or not but haven't seen much done with tail lights before so thought I would share. Opinions?

In my opinion, the original style looks better-the longer, thinner Cadillac lenses don't seem to fill the space that well. You raised a good point that you don't see much customization of tail lights. It took some skill to make that look so clean, and I suspect that most folks don't have the body working skill to pull it off. I wonder where the reverse lights are.

I don't see it here but I do see elsewhere similar Cadillac lights that have a very small clear lens at the bottom.

The taillight doesn't do anything for me. It looks out of place. Maybe I'm too used to stock, or maybe I'm just an old grump, but I prefer the stock lights myself.

Now, get off my lawn!

Something about it looks a-kilter. Like it's in there crooked. I'm not wild about it. Bump side tail lights are supposed to be big and wide.

To me, tail lights and grills are what set the "personality" or "uniqueness" of any vehicle, so it can be very difficult to make them blend in to a custom on something else.

All I see when I look at that sample pic is a Ford with Cadillac taillights, not a cool custom Ford. The guys who create the best customs do so many things you don't realize at all, unless pointed out to you, or they incorporate things like other cars taillights and grills in such a way that you know they aren't the factory units, but you also can't quite put your finger on what it is either, but it works overall.

Ford trucks are a design brick, not slender and elegant, so the Caddy tailights of the era shown just don't go at all with the design theme.

I wouldn't want it on mine but I can appreciate the work that went into it. Maybe if a whole bunch of other work was done to the truck it might look more at home. Maybe it's an old ford navigator

Too bad we couldn't see the whole truck. I have to agree though, from what I see, not my thing.

:? Maybe if the truck was painted one solid dark color instead of two tone?
