Might have stumbled on what I'm looking for. '64 Falcon 2 dr sedan. Body's in good shape. Interior's weak. Back seat ok, front seat has small tear on driver's side. No headliner and door panels are shot. Floors are solid and has had body work done and sprayed matte black. Roof has surface rust but no pitting or rust through anywhere. Has a transplanted 250 I6 with 2 speed auto and 4 lug wheels. Engine's close to the radiator so no fan blades but electric pusher fan on front of radiator. Hack job but functional. The guy's asking $3500 and on the fence for a straight up trade. We'll see....

Definitely got potential - can't find one that nice up here in Ohio - saw one broke off at the firewall crossing a set of RR tracks one time because it was so rusty.....shame what the salt did to cars like that! Its a car to consider IMHO........

Ok, so my practical side won out. Traded the Fairlane today for this '88 F-150 XLT Lariat. 5.0L/auto. 2wd. Everything works. They were asking $3700 on C-List. The Fairlane went to a good home with a loving family who loves classic Fords.

I had an 89 4wd a few years ago. It was a great truck, loved it and wished I had kept it. I wrecked my daily driver 99 F150 last week and am on the hunt for a replacement. Would like to get one in the 88-96 range with the extended cab, but also want one with relatively low miles which is tough.

Yeah, it took me a long time to look at mileage differently than I used to. In the old days an engine was living on borrowed time once you approached 100,000. The newer engines and closer tolerances has pushed that to well over 200K in most situations. I constantly see vehicles on Craigslist advertised as “low miles” and they have 150K or near 200K! What a joke. If I could find a 88 or newer with approximately 100k then I would feel pretty good about getting a lot more years out of it before a rebuild.
