BC bumping into a neighborhood near you soon?

Post by basketcase0302 »

Guys (and gals),

I went to pick up a used interior door for my "operation basketcase flip home" project yesterday and guess what I stumbled upon...
Nothing less than another die hard Ford guy that has a stable of Fords to behold, (yeah yeah I know "no pics" right....) too shy to ask about pics.
This guy has a dual cab, (stated there were only 12 in existence / production) 1958 International four door dual cab pickup! And his stable had everything from rare falcons to Torino's and everything in between, (I didn't get to go into his "man cave" which was for sure a rare car garage from all the signs on the outside of it. Just allowed into the one metal garage / shop that had no less than one dozen antique Fords in it was a blessing to me to be around such a collection.
But the bottom line for me is that as I came onto his property, (he lives less than one mile from my Mother here-I've driven by his house a thousand times in the past seven years now never knowing him) I spy a bumpside truck that's evident has been "put out to pasture", (you could tell the truck hasn't been moved in awhile). Anyway...I chat Fords for awhile / tell him about BC#16 that I had to let go / pick up my hollow core door and go on my way.
Then I get home and think "what the heck" and shoot him a text and yeah he will sell the truck to me! :woohoo:
A lot of details yet but his price is def doable for me and he stated the truck to have a decent running 360 in it. More than anything I'd get the truck and throw my "lil 302" (as some members here call them) in it for my Son Zach. He was to get BC #16 when I passed away but that just wasn't meant to be I guess-so maybe I can still get him into a bump before I die?
Just...as I put my last 302 up for sale last week anticipating a move back to Florida!
Gotta make a decision quickly as I'm getting real...close to putting this home on the market and heading South.
Another BC coming to a neighborhood near you soon?

I knew you'd cave sooner or later, Jeff! You can take the man out of the bump but you can't take the bump outta the man. Congrats and killer find on the classic hideaway.

Thanks guys and as the old adage goes I'm not "counting my chickens until they hatch"!
I'm hoping I can do some bartering to get the price down, (but what he quoted me should be doable).

Thanks Kyle. I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason-whether we know that reason or not is not to question.
BC #16 has a good home I believe and is being taken care of so that means a lot to me.

Well, you should know that you'll get nothing but support from this forum as long as it's not a rust bucket. :?

I passed up a nice patina'd '68 F-250 a couple months ago while picking up a snow blower attachment in my truck. Visions of CV swap with my '93 Mustangs drive line were floating through my head and then I fired up the truck and came home. I'm still torn about selling my '68 Ranchero and it's just taking up room at the house. The new XKR is my impetus to sell both Mustangs. I was offered an ex military 20' sea container for $1k and passed. Too much junk.
