I've come to the conclusion...
That driving an extended wheel base dually as a daily driver has it's costs. My son and I work at the same place and I've been riding with him when it's too cold to ride the bike. For the past two weeks he's been working another shift so I've been running the '71. The truck runs well but really, really needs softer leafs and air bags in the rear. It also has trouble in parking lots, typically taking up more than one space.

This sounds like the beginning of a break up ...
Haha but You could always throw a regular axle under the rear and put a box on it. I wouldn't let that truck go.

Re: I've come to the conclusion...
No, I doubt it will ever 'go', but if chosen, it will not be a daily driver. Ran into an oddball passive aggressive thing yesterday morning. As I was leaving for home I noticed that the guy who parked in front of me was nose to bumper with my truck. Granted I was 2' into the next space but still... Hopped in and fired the truck up. Of course being a diesel it needs to idle for a bit and it's not the smoothest idling thing when cold. So, backed up to leave the now there's a gray Camry with my tag numbers rubbed into the nose cover.
Pushing hard to go get that XKR this coming weekend. At least it'll only take up one parking space.

What's the XKR? A smaller flatbed or something?

As much as I enjoy the truck for it's truck like qualities, it's not that great for moving from point 'a' to 'b'. Took the wife's ragged out '02 Explorer to work tonight and the heated seats and working radio were enjoyable. No banging bed when hitting pot holes was just an unexpected benefit. Trucks getting air bags this summer and most of the rear leafs removed. My bed only weighs 400 lbs, about half of a steel one.

That's a sweet little car. You could load that thing in your flatbed if you needed too It looks fast too.
