Yes it has the walk trough cab. If I would ever build a stake bed out if one Id put a "Coffin Box" on the back of the cab to cover the hole. Oh and lets not forget the cool factor.Jacksdad wrote:Great base for a truck - huge chassis, brakes, and suspension components, Dana 70 with dual wheels, and a nice long wheelbase. That would be a sweet truck when you do the swap and great for game hunting.hdpusher wrote:It has a C4 Trans. I do have future plans for the drive train..... I have a line on a junk 4x4 dually. Re: My 1967 Bump Motorhome
Exactly. I want something capable of taking us off the beaten path and getting back. Wife and kids think Im a lil nuts but one day they will get it. This year we took a 5,000 mile plus road trip out west with our Suburban. There were a lot of places a 2wd would have had problems. That's part of my motivation to do the 4x4 conversion.jimmy828 wrote:That would be a sweet truck when you do the swap and great for game hunting.hdpusher wrote:It has a C4 Trans. That sux you missed out on one..Oddly enough my wife really pushed me to buy this. She never liked my 68 or 72 bumps but for some reason she fell in love with this. I never asked why just rolled with it.Busboy wrote:I saw exactly the same unit here in Idaho for 1,000.00. It sold while I was awaiting approval from my wife.

Smart move. Or a new cab. From experience, it's a lot of work to close off the gap, usually made worse by years of twisting. To be honest, it looks good enough to leave as is. Great looking motor home.hdpusher wrote:Yes it has the walk trough cab. If I would ever build a stake bed out if one Id put a "Coffin Box" on the back of the cab to cover the hole. Be warned though - take it to a campground and you'll have people coming by to ask questions about it all day long. These things don't lend themselves well to peaceful trips

Re: My 1967 Bump Motorhome
That's the set up I have on mine. The control unit is zip-tied to the turn signal stalk. Works great, although a bad brake light switch a few years ago made life exciting on a freeway off ramp when the cruise control didn't cancel. Hurtling toward a red light at a three way intersection with a car dealership on the other side was a hell of a start to the day.Ranchero50 wrote:They use a magnetic pickup on the driveshaft for a speed reference and a vacuum can to pull the throttle as needed. A 4x4 motorhome? That would be beyond awesome - I had toyed with the idea myself after seeing a 4x4 F250 in the wrecking yard a few years ago, but the worsening condition of the camper box nixed that one.

Not exactly an easy swap on to a 2wd frame but I feel it would be worth it. Really hoping to get the 4x4 dually, set them side by side and see what I need to do.

Looking at your other thread, you clearly have the skills. The bigger frame on an F350 would make it a little more involved but certainly not impossible, so I say go for it
