Brought home a 1969 F350 Dually today!!!

Post by MurrayPro92 »

I'm so excited to have her!! As some of you may know I made a post a few days ago asking about this truck. Well today we went and looked at it. The seller was a pretty nice guy. He had done quite a bit of work to the truck since he got it. Here is a list of what it has

New
tires
brake shoes
fuel tank
fuel pump
u joints
plugs and wires
steering box
headlights
exhaust (headers and everything back)
and a couple bushings in the front end

It has the 390 engine and 4 speed trans. Runs and drives really nice. It's not very hard to steer or stop without power steering or brakes. It does have rust but the cab mounts are solid on her and shes straight metal with no bondo except where it looks like it use to have tripod mirrors at one time and they filled in the holes. I like the truck a whole lot. Got it for $2,300 and I think I got a good deal. It is exactly what I wanted. Of course there are a couple bad things.

Rust
junky wiring
needs heater core (bypassed because it leaks)
front grille is beat up pretty good
probably a couple other things that i am over looking because i like it so much lol

I am really happy with it though. I am going to get the wiring fixed so that all my lights work and maybe get the radio working then make the rest work good and eventually make it prettier. What do yall think? Here's some photos.

Looks like a good start. Now, find a 1st gen Cummins and get rid of the gasser. :)

Post up some detail pics when you get time and we'll try to figure out what life it's lived and what needs work.

Thanks everyone!!! I am loving her so far! Only thing I am not liking is the hacked up wiring but that can be fixed. Shes pretty good on fuel for what she is!

Quick question since I am new to driving a bump. Are the brake lights suppose to come on when I press the clutch pedal??

Thanks! I figured out why the brake light came on when I clutched. The brake switch was adjusted just so that you barely touch the brake it would go off. Well when I clutch the brake pedal moves very very slightly and its just enough to make the switch go off. I adjusted it and all is well now! Also got more of my lights working. Still need to fix the front right park light. It blinks with the turn signal but does not glow with park lamps. Neither of the fender lights are there or wired. One is in the cab but the other is MIA. The headache rack lights glow but I have not wired them to stop or turn yet. Reverse lights don't work and my 4 way flasher switch is not working. The wiring is about the only bad thing I have found on this truck really. No biggie though, I knew it was going to be rough in that area.
