NOS remanufactured

Just because a part was remanufactured by the OEM company does not mean it is NOS it means REMANUFACTURED OEM. Seen way to many sales on Ebay trying to get NOS price for remanufactured part. Watch out people and understand what these acronyms mean. NOS=New Old Stock new part never been installed once installed can never be NOS again now just OEM (NOS parts can have flaws from improper storage being moved around ETC just not installed). OEM=Original Equipment Manufacture can be NOS or a completely worn out part made by the original manufacture. Remanufactured means the part was a worn out part and brought back to life can be OEM but not NOS. NOS parts can bring in the $$$'s leading to misrepresentation. Beat this one to death.

forgot one repo=Reproduction meaning part was reproduced after the original production run. Can be NOS OEM (but never will be correct for the purist Date Coding Numbers matching and stuff). Like when ford marked there replacement parts Motorcraft or Autolite instead of FOMOCO. Or could be different manufacturer altogether the Quality of these parts can exceed the OEM quality or be down right disgusting junk made in a far off land. buyer beware.

Water pumps for FE engines are an interesting problem. There are new reproduction and re-manufactured ones available. The new reproduction ones do not always align with the accessories properly, necessitating the use of an OEM pump instead. When you go for OEM-reman, you need to inspect the part and accept only one with an OEM casting, since often the reman is of a reproduction casting. I've had to inspect 6 or 7 reman pumps at O'Reilly or Autozone before I find one that will line up with the accessories.
