Keep er for now

Post by Mancar1 »

I bought a 09 Silverado for the comfort and I was going to sell the 68. Well after a couple weeks I was missing the rumble. So I am keeping the 68 for now. I started driving it to work again.
The Silverado has way more comfort and all, but I love tooling around a couple times a week in the 68.
U just do not get the same notice in a newer truck as you do in one that is 48 years young.

I'm with you John! My truck's been "down" for 5 years now and I really miss her. I've been driving my '64 Fairlane daily for the past 16 months and every time I stop somebody wants to talk about the car. And when I meet somebody on the road in another "vintage" vehicle, no matter what the make, we exchange waves and thumbs up in mutual appreciation like some kind of special brotherhood. I'll sometimes drive my wife's 2015 SUV to the store or on a long trip and while the comfort and convenience is nice, it's just a car. I don't feel a connection with it like my bump or my F'lane. Driving them I feel like we're part of each other. Maybe it's because it takes both hands, both feet, and all of my attention
