Re: Falcon help
It had a t-10 in it before that was 24.5 inches long and the top loader is 25.5 but the hurst shifter is hitting where the old cross member was. Shifter is going to come out 6-8 inches back from where it was before not a big deal can fix the floors but don't want to cut out to much of the floor brace that the old cross member tied into.

Re: Falcon help
Not sure if this helps, but I had a T5 in a 64 and the tail shaft had to be swapped out to a shorter version from a GM T5.
Can the same be done w/ the top loader? Not sure it they had different tail shafts. Just wanted to let you know what was done on mine even though it's a different tranny.

Try an early Mustang forum, underneath they're almost the same.

Re: Falcon help
It also sounds like you have the Fairlane top loader, not the Mustang / Falcon one. Difference is where the stick comes up through the floor. Also on the Fairlanes the floor was notched out for the 4 speed. Not sure about the little cars.

Re: Falcon help
Thanks for all the help and info. From running the numbers off the top loader it shows to be out of a 65 mustang. He has talk to one guy who has fabed up a bracket on one that moves the shifter forward trying to get some pics and measurements from him now
