Years ago, took my 70 F250 to Discount in Bedford tx for a rotation. Had/has 16 inch tires/wheels and dog dish caps. They sent their best two 19 year olds out to do it. After 15 minutes of staring at it, they asked me if I knew how to get the caps off!, so I took them off and put them in the bed. Another 12 minutes of staring at the lug nuts and they asked why it had so many on it. So I asked them to step back and guide me while I backed up, and I backed it out of their bay and went home. I'm not sure if they had ever seen an old truck, but decided their line of questioning wouldn't lead to a good conclusion. So I bought an impact and do it myself when it needs it.

Went to a firestone dealer my mistake thought they new what they were doing. When I got home looked at the tires. THEY BEAT THE LIVING S---- OUT OF MY HUBCABS. And not just a little but massively called them up and I have to meet with Jay tomorrow. I will let you know how it turns out. Does anybody do quality work anymore. Did they think I wouldn't notice.

You gotta love it though, going for State Inspection and them telling you, your high beams don't work and your wipers are broke.

Duh, high beam dimmer is on the floor not on turn signal and you have to turn the wiper knob, not pull it!

Swear, true story.

I work at a dealership, rarely anything comes in that's older than 2000. Its nice to be able to know how to work on these old cars/trucks and is definitely a dying art to say. Not many younger guys know how to adjust a carb or even what a points ignition system is, making it that much more important to me to know all I can. The newer vehicles just about diag themselves with all the sensors and computers in them.

Sorry you had this trouble. I read the part about "took it to Firestone" and I thought, "and the hubcaps all came off and rolled away on the way home." Turns out you still have the hubcaps, but all beat to sh!t thanks to the no-brainiacs at the dealer.

Two suggestions. Find a Bear Service center. Those guys are usually really good and well-educated/trained. Firestone, etc, are mostly lunkheads, except for maybe one or two of the guys in there. Another thing, no matter where you take it, always remove the hubcaps before you go and put them back on yourself. It's just not worth the hassle of dealing with the rush-rush-rush lamebrain mentality and getting your bumpside messed up.

Glad they worked it out with you.
