Classic 302 vs Modern V8 302
Hello everyone my question is have a 1979 3 speed on the floor 302 Ford F100 custom I'd like to know if I took all the parts necessary out of a 5.0 Mark 7 or Thunderbird or Mustang to the swap be completed in order to gain fuel injection power steering power brakes and all around updated truck. I already know the 2003 police cruiser Crown Vic the front and parts should match up with some modification I'm just curious if the newer fuel injected 5.0 that were used in those vehicles Mount up in the same position in my truck or will motor mounts have to be custom. This truck was my grandfather's and now mine and is like to modernize it and need a little help on gathering the right parts for the job. The motor and trans is like to purchase new but don't know that year to inquire about I'd also like to increase torque and horsepower so that this classic truck can stand toe-to-toe with the full-size trucks of today and maybe have a little bit more power of the hood

Several builds on here with Coyotes and I know for a fact a mid/late 80's 351w (5.8L) from an Explorer or F150 is a drop in as is a 5.0 from a truck or Mustang, fuel injected or carburetor.

Re: Classic 302 vs Modern V8 302
If you want the "lumpy" cam sound that a push rod motor can make, go 302 or 351w with FITECH efi(what I am doing). If you want the efficiency of the late model mod motors, good choice too. You can get the lumpy cam sound out of a mod motor but if you are running a 2 valve motor, that's 2 cams you are buying. If you run a cobra motor that is 4 cams you are buying. If you go with a Coyote....go to you tube and search ghost cam coyote. Evidently they can use the variable valve timing to get the lumpy cam sound. I went through all of this about 1.5 years ago and decided on a windsor. I could get a windsor or 302 to the point cheaper than buying a coyote. Coyote truck engines have come down but the harness, ecu, headers, etc are still expensive. 2 valve mod motors and cobra motors are a little cheaper to get running than a coyote.
Just what I researched hope it helps
