Gas tank 1970 bump.
Should I move gas tank to rear or leave behind seat. Really wanna keep original as possible but was wandering about gas smell in cab. ????????

There isn't a market for these trucks so modified or original doesn't really affect the value. JMO.

As long as you have the right gas cap you shouldn't have any smell in the cab unless you have a leak.

I switched my stock cap for a new locking cap from LMC.
Wasn't that expensive, feels kinda cheapish but the only time I smell the fumes is during fill up.
Makes me feel better too knowing someone can't dump stuff in my tank or fill it up w/o the key. Highly recommend that step first. If you're still not satisfied you can check the tank relocation threads. A lot of good options on here.

You could always install the rear mounted tank, and then drain and disconnect the in cab tank. It'll still look original, but you won't smell gas inside.
