Classic Air in my '71 F250
Just finished the install of a Classic Air system and am pleased to report it blows cold! I live in inland Southern CA and A/C is a necessity here.
This work is not for the faint of heart....an intermediate to advanced project IMHO. The work in the engine compartment was interesting, but the work inside the cab was nerve wracking.
I'll post a video in a couple of weeks to show the finished product, and talk about some of the "issues" I had.
The folks at Classic Air were "Johnny On The Spot" when I had questions, so that was a saving grace. Dan

I'm also interested. Should a video be too time consuming, just posts some pics. It's always nice to be pleased with a major purchase!

Re: Classic Air in my '71 F250
I have been debating back and forth on classic Air and Vintage Air. Would you mind posting some pics on the inner fender in the wheel well and engine compartment? I am interested in how close the tire is to the hoses and what it looks like in the engine compartment where the hoses come in. I like the idea of the classic air because of it being a complete kit and it places the hoses through the side of the cab. Vintage Air does not have a kit yet but assures me it will work.

Re: Classic Air in my '71 F250
Barry, check the video I posted under Video Gallery...it shows the things you're inquiring about. There is adequate clearance between the tire and the new heater and A/C hoses and I've got big tires on my rig. I called Vintage Air before deciding and got the same answer you got: "we've got nothing specific for the F250 so you'll have to use one of our generic units." I called Classic Auto Air and they said they made a unit specific to the F250 so I bought that. My assessment of the parts and material is that this unit is specific to my truck and fits well. The air changer in the cab fits well and allows room for the radio, speaker and glove box, so I'm happy with that. The project took me a few weeks to complete because I only worked on it a few hours a day....I'm retired after all. Gotta enjoy life while fiddling with the Bump.IN2FORD wrote:I have been debating back and forth on classic Air and Vintage Air.
