did it this weekend. working on a M105 military trailer. axle is huge with 20" wheels and too heavy.
found an 8 lug trailer axle with brakes and wheels on craigslist.
took about 10" out of the center. sleeved it with schedule 80 pipe all the way across. Axle is straight with no camber, and no toe. That is the way I wanted it.
shorten a trailer axle?

I like that jig you got that axle on and i wish i could weld like that. Maybe one day if i keep practicing.
