I bit the bullet and bought a pretty spendy set of new side body and bed moldings...and now am wondering how to install them.
As usual, the old ones came off easily by just pulling from one end...they slide off the plastic clips holding them on.
But going back the other way....??
Does anyone know of a tutorial for installing these? Dan

When I installed my thin molding on my cab I chose to bolt each and every mount on vs use the plastic clips that riveted to the body. The cost difference wasn't terrible to be able to take them back off down the road. For the install, be wary of the front of the door fit. Easy to bugger up the trim.
I also put a small ball of body tar on each clip's bolt to waterproof it.
I found my clips online from a fastener warehouse for a fraction of DC's price.

Good idea. These plastic clips that came with the set are what came off the truck before paint, but getting these back on holding the trim looks like an accident waiting to happen. So, that's what I did....I bought the metal trim clips (NAPA #665-3249). I had to drill out the holes to 3/16" to accept the clip attaching bolts, but it went fine. I paid $6.49 for a package of three, and I needed 6 packages, but still I could see how this would work. I still can't see how those plastic clips would work. I also did the sealer on each bolt, using some strip sealer on each. I'm a happy camper, and thanks again for the tip. It isn't hard if you take your time: First, rivet the plastic clips onto the sheet metal, then insert the spring clips on to the ends of the trim. Use the nuts to loosely attach the trim and check your spacing/centering. When you are satisfied, snug up the nuts. Then, engage the bottom of the trim into the bottom of the clips and one at a time, give the trim a little "pop" with the heel of your hand. The trim should snap right on to the top of the clip. Now repeat about a hundred times and you are set. "Dum-dum" can be used wherever you want it.
"Do it now, or wish forever that you had."
