Well, I've had my bump since 06 and kinda just drove it while fixing things that might leave me on the side of the road.
A little pro active work. Time to make it what I want
A couple weeks ago I finished the 302 build along with a new steering box and column rebuild.
I put headers on and tied them into the old (dual exhaust) stock style mufflers.
I just ordered two Magnaflow stainless round to make a new dual exhaust.
Put two new front tires on cause the old ones were ten years old and I plan on driving a good way with this truck. Plus, my spare was a bias ply so I figured a decent radial would make a better one.
The grill insterts were cracked and I don't like the 72 version so I bought two 70 grilles. I like that style better anyhow.
I have a little lag in the throttle cause the old Autolite carb has a lot of throttle shaft play plus other problems I'm sure. I rebuilt it a couple years ago but it's not good enough for my rebuild. So I ordered a reman from Summit.
I'm waiting for a dash cover and three point seat belts from LMC and I put on a new saddle blanket seat cover for now.
Upgraded from the three speed to a four.
I also just ordered an Air-Lift rear bag setup with a compressor. I had this on a Silverado and it is a big help pulling an overloaded trailer or when putting 2300 lbs in the bed.
That blew the tax refund.
Carlisle in two weeks ought to blow any other money I can come up with.
I need a passenger side door, maybe rims, a fender and who knows what else.
Body parts are solid but my wifes grandfather (who owned the truck since new) began to drive by sound in his 90's and the door took a good hit backing out of the barn.
A new windshield is in the near future and a sliding back window to go with it.

Finally taken the leap
Sometimes the mind, for reasons we don't necessarily understand, just decides to go to the store for a quart of milk.

As a friend of mine would say (he drove model A s)
"You may not want to restore it , but if you drive it enough it will become restored."
