Re: Paint Grill
I've painted the inserts with a rattle can of argent (silver) paint. I found unpainted repops for less than half the going rate of finished ones so I jumped on them. There's a picture on the last page of my build thread of you're interested. I'm planning to just clean and polish the shell.

Re: Paint Grill
The inserts are pretty simple to redo. Cleaned to death followed by some plastic primer and your choice of argent paint in light coats. The hard part is setting them aside for a month or so for the paint to harden completely.
My shell is covered in belt buckle scratches and a couple dents. I should remove the anodizing and polish it but that's a real PITA to do and then maintain.

You can strip the anodizing off with easy-off oven cleaner, Spray it on and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wear some rubber gloves and wash off the anodizing. You may have to do it a few times to get it all off but I've done it to a few grilles and found it the easiest was so far.
