took off my dash pad today. Looks og but it also seems someone put vinyl on it already. Would that be another option.
Still pretty solid. Thinking to making my own see how it works out.
Gonna change the while shield wiper pivot gaskets while I'm at it ? Any suggestions. I have new gaskets but they look weak

It looks like someone at some time covered the original dash. They do make a plastic covers that you can glue over the top of the original cover to freshen things up. I have one in my truck and you can barely tell I have a cover on the dash and it looks factory. You can by them through LMC and Dennis Carpenter.

How bad was your original pad ?
Bc today I took the black vinyl off my pad an the original pad had excessive wear and tear. They even used some of that aluminum 2 sided tape to keep the new vinyl on the old part of my dash. But it might still hold up. What do you think Popeye?

Mine looks the same way and the PO used one of those abs covers, I didn't even notice until it slid off one day. Just let it live on top of your old pad for awhile to comform to the original pad before you glue it down and it'll look great.
My old dash pad looked similar to your old pad. On my pad, I cut he raised sections of the dash pad down to bring everything to a level playing field. I cleaned the old pad afterwards and then used a silicon based glue and spread that over the top of the old dash. I laid the abs cover over the old dash pad and then laid some large heavy books on top of the ABS cover to weigh it down while the glue was drying. I waited to the next day and pulled the heavy books off and it was finished. I've had it on there for over 3 years and it still looks good and fits good too!
