16.5 tires, Anyone heard of these guys.

Looking at a set of 16.5 tires and there's slim pickings out there to buy. Want to use a set of slot rims I polished and want to go with the 16.5 for now. I know they don't make them any more so this is like the last chance to use my slots on the truck.

Maybe I should have added that I'm looking at 35s.

16.5 x 35's seem readily available, its the 9.50's, 10.50's that are non-existent. They do make some trailer tires in smaller sizes if you don't mind the 'bologna-skin' look with no tread...

I LOVE the old aluminum slots on these trucks and have passed on several cheap sets recently just for the fact that you can't get tires for a 2-wd truck.

16.5 x 35's seem readily available, If so please give me some links to them. I have seen sites listing them but nobody that I've found has them. Only thing I see is super swappers and these I give the link to.

Product is Out of stock. Thanks for the link. I tried them a few nights ago before I posted here. I guess I'm going to see if I can find some 16x9.75 steel rims for my truck. hopefully somebody here has a set that they would want to sell.

Here's what I'm planning to do... Wheel Vintiques has the 8-lug in 16in and there are multiple widths. Looking to go 16x 10 on back, 16 x 8 front.

lol...yes I have heard of 'em n unfortunately had the same issue (on my 6th gen) ...But I got rid of them  ....found a good set of 4 steel 16"s at a salvage yard/junk yard for about $100 and swapped them out with new rubber...even with buyin the rims n new tires...I saved $200-$300...its prolly the best way to handle the situation  I believe the 16's on upto '97 will fit on the trucks...and 2003 er 2004 on the vans ('98 went to metric...vans maintained standard bolt pattern on up later) ...good luck with it all I'm a lot happier with the 16's more selection with tires and save$$$ :hd:

I'm thinking real hard about going with a set of 16" steel wheels. The tires are easier to get plus if I'm out of town and a tire gets cut I can buy a replacement. I would love to put my slots on there because they do look good but sometimes you just got to throw in the towel and go a different direction.

Thanks for the help everybody.

For what it's worth, I had original 16.5 wheels with 9.50 bias plys on them when I bought my '69 F250 Camper Special. Went to the junkyard to get 16" wheels, pulled a set, and on the way out the gate, lo and behold but there's a nearly new set of 16.5" 9.50 bias plys on the rack for $30/ea. I set down the 16" wheels and bought the 16.5" tires instead. Ran them until they wore out after 15K miles, couldn't find replacements, so back to the junkyard and more 16" wheels.

These came off a Dodge which had the same hub circle since it had a dana 60 back axle. Put them on my F250 with new radial LT's, went to pop on the painted steel hubcaps: the hubcap ring is just a smidge too big for the Ford hubcaps.

Sh!t! managed to grind down the wheel hubcap tits enough to get the Ford hubcaps to stay on, with a little help from some NP1 adhesive sealant I happened to have on hand.

Long story short: make sure everything fits before you buy replacement wheels.

I've been too sick to try them yet, but I have a set of brand new LT325/75R/16s that were for my other truck (non-Ford) on rims I'm going to try on mine. I remember a center hole issue GM<->Ford wheels but don't recall the specifics.

The GM 3/4 ton rear axle hub has a smaller diameter than the Dana 60 axle hub on Ford and Dodge. The GM wheels will fit on the front axle of our Ford 3/4 ton trucks, but not on the back. Best interchangeability is between Ford and Dodge, but the hubcap ring tits on the wheel may differ slightly.
