3 speed trans to 5speed swap
Hello, I have a 1979 Ford f100 302 with a 3 speed trans. Shifting is now on the floor and was changed prior to my taking ownership. I think the three speed is terrible and want to swap with a 5 speed. My question is what type of 5 speed do I look for that will be a direct bolt on and will I need to replace the drive shaft. Please help cause money is tight so I can't afford to make a bad call on the purchase.

Re: 3 speed trans to 5speed swap
For general purpose driving, the cheapest way to go is the M5R2 from the late 80's light duty trucks. http://www.fordification.com/tech/M5R2_5spd-swap.htm Drive shaft may need modification. Not sure on a dent side but the write up is based on a bump.
