Bought another one

Post by rwilly »

I bought a 67 F100 with an inline 6 and three on the tree. One owner truck in fantastic shape! The doors are starting to rust out but other than that, it is nice. The wheel wells and the box in general has no dents or rust thru, cab corners, and cab mounts are good. The odometer reads 74K. The engine has the tag on it from the factory but it also has a stamp on it from a local rebuilder, Tam Engine Corp. It also has a Motorola Electronic Ignition box in it. Tomorrow I will hose off all the moss, drain the very old gas out of the tank and do a general clean up. It might be awhile until I can try to get it started.

I washed it today, then drained the old fuel out of it. It had stale 2 stroke gas in it for some reason, it was green. I was able to keep it running for a few moments until I saw the fan wobbling on the shaft. The bushing in the water pump is gone. I will pick up a new pump tomorrow.
I don't think I'm the only one that gets excited when ya bring home an old vehicle and are able to get it running. Its a nice sense of accomplishment. I'm looking forward to driving it.

I went back to the property where I bought the truck to look at a bulldozer that was for sale. As I was leaving the seller gave me a set of NOS mirrors still in the packaging that go with the truck.

The truck has a single sport mirror on it now and I prefer to have "truck " mirrors. I don't know if I will mount them or not. Either way, they will be staying with the truck.

Whoa! NOS Western Jr. mirrors! That is quite a gift. They bring a lot on eBay. That was a good deal!
