Gauge I ruined with Windex
I ruined this gauge with windex some time ago so tonight I thought I would take it out and see what I could do. Not perfect learned what I could do better next time. Tell me what you think of the pinstripe. The last pic is an NOS gauge and what this one was like.

Re: Gauge I ruined with Windex
The speedo design is based on the earlier style gauge the numbers are shorter and the indicators are on the outside of the gauge. I like this style better more industrial looking for the white style bezel. I bought the overlay from LMC because it came with overlays for my tach and vacuum gauges. Since this came with it thought I'd give it a shot. Overlay is priced high. it would have worked better if I hadn't painted the whole background white http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=65

Re: Gauge I ruined with Windex
I don't know what ford used for paint. I've ruined more gauges by using windex or water than I'd like to admit. Takes the white lettering off. If you feel the need to clean the face of a gauge use a clean dry soft cloth ''NO LIQUIDS'. I know it is temping but you will regret it.rwilly wrote:Looks great!

Re: Gauge I ruined with Windex
Windex will definitely take the paint off of a gauge, I ruined a Mustang speedometer like that once. Not sure if the paint just turns to dust after all the years or started out that way, but it is about the equivalent of chalk IME.

I believe Windex contains.... alcohol. And alcohol can act as a solvent.
