dowel pin to short

I hav a 67 falcon futura 289 my first car i got in 1983 I just rebuilt and the long pin for the eccentric is to short. It goes flush with new timing gear (mr gasket) and doesnt catch eccentric. What can i do? :help:

I had the same thing happening with the Comp cam I used. I put a few pullets from a pellet gun behind the pin and tapped it into place, Its soft lead that it can be smashed if needed a little without any worries.
