Been having withdrawals. Looks like Keith got the service providers back on track.

Re: Welcome back
The biggest problem is simply that the forums are out-growing our current shared server hosts. The forums are putting a heavy load on the server just due to the amount of traffic it's getting, search queries, etc. The answer to this is to step up to a VPS (virtual private server), but that's at a fairly substantial rate increase (3 times what we're paying now!)...AND it means that I'd be in charge of all server functions, including updates, security, etc, which is pretty time-consuming. I'm not entirely convinced I want to go this route.
I was forced to remove a script I had running which allowed more database connections to serve more people at the same time...but this means there's a very real possibility that we're going to see more-frequent error messages, due to us hitting our database query limit earlier each hour. I'll just have to monitor the situation to see what happens and make decisions as necessary.

Re: Welcome back
So maybe limit the bot queries or limit the time frame the bots can crawl the database to late nights? I noticed it was me and four bots on the forum this morning when I opened Chrome at work.FORDification wrote:The biggest problem is simply that the forums are out-growing our current shared server hosts.
