The "352" is very common for the FE family.... does not denote displacement size.
Are you sure the engine is a 390? Have you measured the stroke? 3.5inch = 360, 3.78 = 390, 3.98 = 428 etc.....
What is the 3rd digit of your VIN? Y = 360, H= 390. This will tell you what it left the factory with.
Crawl under the truck and look up where the oil filter screws on, you will see a small pad with the date code of the block. It will look something like: 2A15 which would translate to 1972, Jan 15.
Unlike other manufactures, there is no "Numbers matching" engine-to-truck on these Ford products as the trucks Serial number is not on the engine.

Thanks Lee
Yes the tag says it was built as a 390 truck. I will look where you said to see if I can get that date code and see what correlation to the build date range the vin says.
Much appreciated.

The code on the block is 2c30 and the truck was built April of 72. From what you said Lee, this engine was built March 30 of 72. I'd say it's the original motor.
Thanks again for the assistance.

Tim,
Yupper, looks like the engine is the original based on the dates
Good luck with your project and take care,

Lee is spot on on everything he said
The only little piece I would add to his
The 2 on the date code should have 2 little dots underneath it to signify the 70's decade
