What's it worth? 1970 Ranger XLT SWB
Hi folks, trying to get some opinions on the value of this truck I might buy.
It's a 1970 Ranger XLT short bed survivor condition, or close to it.
Original paint, interior. Runs and drives well, but it leaks oil from the rear main seal, not terrible though.
A/c, p/s, 302ci, a/t
No accidents, minimal rust, been a California vehicle since new
Looks like all the parts are there.
Tires have less than 600 miles.
Ive been into classics for over 25 years now, never a truck though...mostly Mustangs and Falcons. Thanks for the help.

Just a rough estimate of course, I am going to say $2500.00.
It's hard to tell without getting a good look at it. The shortys seem to bring more money.

Picture are worth a thousand word when trying to give someone the value on something.
If you post some pictures of the truck I'm sure you will get a lot of guessaments on the value.
Value could be anywhere from $2500 to $8000, Picture's would be a big help.

Well, asking price is on the high end.
I've been watching trucks for about a year and looking at some well kept, original trucks go for $7500 to $13k.
I don't know. Is this a crazy price for barn find-like well optioned short bed?

Here is a few comparos.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/5091087800.html <-- My choice
Your truck looks a lot cleaner.
If the interior is as nice as the outside I would say somewhere in the $6K range.
When you do sell it, let us know what ya get for it.

Thanks. I'm actually looking at buying, not selling.
The camper comp looks most comparable as far as condition goes.

I would say some where around $2800-$3000.
You have to make that decision about what it is worth to you.
It is a very nice looking truck BUT the leaking main COULD mean bad motor.
Good luck.

Good god man! $2,800-$3,000? Where do you live? Where I'm at, you could sit that truck out on a Saturday and throw $8,500 on the for sale sign, and it would be sold within a few hours.crazyhorse wrote:I would say some where around $2800-$3000.

Took the words right out of my mouth . A solid no rust Cali truck in the condition that appears to be in would sell all day long
at that price you mention. Hell, I just paid $3200 for mine and it's no where near as nice as that one. And I've got people telling
me I got a deal on a $5k truck .

I would think that truck would bring 8k, The only thing I see wrong with it is the green. I don't like green if you can't tell
I would check the normal rust places to see how everything looks and go from there. The trim line looks nice and straight so that tells me the front cab mounts are still in good shape. The only thing that I see that has been changed is the rear bumper, It's aftermarket.
The rear seal don't look to be leaking to bad because there's no oil visible on the concrete. I think the early 302s were 2 piece rear seals and the later ones were a 1 piece.

Ok, so I bought it. Here's some pics. It also came with the original valve covers and steering wheel.

Nice score!
The first thing I would do is put the original steering wheel back in, I like my stuff stock. Then I would drive it like it was meant to be driven.

That is your opinion which I respect.
I was giving my opinion.
That is what he asked for in the first post.
Different opinions helps people sell/buy .
Mr Gasgasinch,
Congratulation, that is a very nice truck.
I hope you enjoy it for many years.

Truck looks to be in really nice shape. The young girl has the look of wanting to go for a ride not take a picture
I see everything is hooked up on the A/C. How dose it cool, Is it able to keep the interior cool on a hot day ?
You've got to spill the beans, How much did you pay ? I'm going to guess 9k+
