On the way back to work today, I pulled up next to a current generation f250. It was a crewcab and 4x4. On the aftermarket side it was raised about a foot.
And it had low-profile (very low-profile) tires.
Not being a off-roader (and very few of the 4x4s in our area are actually ever used for off-road says my Ford sales rep), I would think that low profile tires would be counter-productive.

My impression is its all for show. At least here in Cali, I think 99% of lifted trucks are for show and never see the dirt. Which from a practical standpoint just makes the truck way more expensive to operate and maintain.
