whats should I pay? 69 camper special

Post by MIB »

I am looking at a 1969 f-250 camper special. Ran when parked (2 years ago). Everything is there, and completely original, but it's well aged. Body is solid, aside from a hole on each front fender where the camper special emblem was. What would be a good price? I can't find anything to compare it to..

For $1200, I would jump on it.

Offered him 850 as its doing him no good out to pasture. I'll probably still bring her home for $1000 if he doesn't budge. I'll keep ya posted. (Hopefully with some pics of my new truck)

Ha yeah!

I paid 800 for mine, base model 3 speed f100, mostly because that is what i wanted, but partially because that was my budget.

I figure i've got close to $4k total into it, and a ton of work, getting it where i want it, but it still has no paint, interior, or weatherstripping, and a bunch of other small issues.

Basically where i'm going with this is: Its cheaper to buy the truck up front than to build it. IF you think you're going to get a better deal on something in worse condition dont bother, you'll spend 400 bucks on brakes in the first week you own it just getting that right.

Thanks for your input guys! He wouldn't take my $850, but said he'll have it running by the time I come get it for $1000. Cant hardly pass that up. I'll update as soon I can with some pics and a report on the good, the bad, and the ugly of it. Lol.

Yeah, post up some pics. Body line straightness is a good indication of how much hidden rust it has. Front mounts etc. are notorious along with the floors and front cab seams.

Looks like a no go.. Guy lost the title, and wants me to pay the cost of replacement. Ok, fine. $850 + $95 .. NO problem! But then he wants the money 100% in full before he does the title!! What??? I told him I'll pay 400 (cover title cost + earnst money). NO!!! He wants me to give him 950 up front and he will write me a bill of sale until the title shows up... WHO DOES BUSINESS LIKE THAT? ughh... needless to say, it's a bit upsetting. Especially knowing it will just sit and rot away the rest of its days.

Did I mention it's in Illinois. They DO NOT aknowledge bill of sale as proof of ownership from my knowledge. Would any of you do a deal like this?

This clown would feel my displeasure in a way that would put him in a bad mood for days.

Good thing I kept my cool and stewed on it overnight. I wanted to go rough him up and slap some sense into this kids head. Lol. I received a call today from a close friend of this guy. He is seeing things my way and we are going to the dmv Tuesday to do the title work. Having it expedited, so 2-5 business days after that I should be bringing it home. :hd:

I would knock $100 off the price or walk away. It's not personal, it's business and it shouldn't cost your time and aggravation to to deal with his poor business sense. You get poor service at a restaurant you expect a discount, do the same with the truck.
