Help ID this truck

Post by east302 »

I'm trying to identify the year model of my grandad's truck in the picture below. From the factory literature on this site, I know it's a 1973-76 but wonder if anyone can help narrow it down a bit? I'm guessing it was the Ranger trim and not Ranger XLT given the lack of chrome on wheel well and rocker panel but am not sure. The photo was taken in August 1977.

I don't think it's a Ranger or a XLT. The lack of chrome on the gauge bezel, No trim on the passenger side of the dash, No trim around the windshield.

I would guess it's a two tone custom. Do you have any other pictures of the truck ?

No, that's the only picture that I have and the truck was sold a few years after the photo was taken. I wish I could track it down.

Was, then, the chrome/rubber strip on the belt line required for two-tone applications regardless of trim package?

Yep, that's me. I remember riding in it...not quite sure what, if anything, secured me to the seat, though!
